We welcome you to the PEARL JAM RUMOR PIT Issue #51 - June 28, 2002 * * * * * * * * * Hey Jammers! This newsletter was created as a direct link to the fans. If you would like to ask a question about Pearl Jam, the Vitalogy Health Club asks that you please direct your questions (not fan club issues) to DigitalKat@aol.com or OfTheSea@aol.com. We're off now...headin' to the ballpark for some summer fun...er, we mean workin' in the Pit! A NEW BATTING ORDER... There are some cool new changes to the Pearl Jam schedule that we're sure you'll all love or at least we hope you will. If the new schedule goes as planned, the rest of this year and next should be fan-freakin-tastic! Are you ready.... LET'S PLAY BALL! Stepping up to the plate: the new album. Pearl Jam's new album, produced by Adam Kasper and Pearl Jam, is now scheduled for release in November of 2002. Brendan O'Brien has worked his mixing magic and things went great. Next up will be creating the artwork, deciding the album name and then the tracklisting. The new album does include a guest artist...Ed's friend, Boom, is playing keyboards on some tracks, some piano, some organ. As long as things keep moving right along, we should have it in our hot little hands before year's end! A glance at the scouting report shows that the rarities album is still happening but it'll be released next year now. It'll be a mix of live and studio tracks and there's a possibility that it could be a double CD. NEXT UP... The guys are planning to do a few shows before year's end but there are no details yet. Stop throwing your peanuts at us! :) They're working on it and we'll post them as soon as any dates are set. The next tour will begin some time next year; Australia and New Zealand are still on the schedule and Belgian fans can look forward to the possibility of a Pearl Jam visit in the Spring. For those wondering if Pearl Jam will once again release all of their upcoming shows from the new tour on official bootlegs, the answer is that they are working it out. We're going to cross our fingers and toes and do a little "please let there be bootlegs" jig. It will probably hurt, but it's worth it. AND WAITING IN THE BATTER'S BOX... ~Brad's third album, "Welcome to Discovery Park" will be released in the U.S. on August 13th by Redline. Their tour is scheduled to begin in October with some dates in the U.S., Australia, and the possibility of some European dates. There are more goodies at the Brad site at www.bradcorporation.com. ~The Ramones tribute album, a Rob Zombie project, is due to be released this summer and features Ed's rendition of the Ramones, "I Believe in Miracles." ~Look for that bad mofo, Mike McCready, on the new Wallflowers album, "Red Letter Days," to be released on Sept. 24. IT'S A SWING AND A MISS... Rumors that strike out: Eddie is not doing a solo album. Pearl Jam will not be performing at the Bridge School Benefit this year, or at the Kaiser Music Festival in Sao Paulo. :::CRACK!::: AND IT'S A HOME RUN! Those jammy Ten Club newsletters have been sent out and should be arriving in your hands any day now. As usual, it's chock full of goodies and this one is something really special. RUMORS, RUMOURS, RUMORS... PEARL Rumor: Van Dyke Parks is working on an arrangement for Eddie Vedder. JAM Fact: False, he was going to do something for Brad. PEARL Rumor: Mike McCready is playing on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack. What songs? JAM Fact: True. Mike is playing guitar on the score, which was composed by Mike's friend and director Cameron Crowe's wife, Nancy Wilson of Heart. PEARL Rumor: Matt Cameron has changed his drumkit to Yamaha drums. JAM Fact: Yes, this is true. ~Q&A~Q&A~Q&A~Q&A~ Q: Was Pearl Jam asked for permission for Staind to cover "Black"...? Did Staind need permission? A: No and no. Q: I was curious to know what, if anything, does Pearl Jam think about Staind remaking Black? (since it was a song they didn't want to make a single of for themselves.) A: No thoughts. Q: In a previous Rumor Pit, the Ten Club mentioned some cool changes to the Ten Club ticketing procedure for the next tour. Will that still happen? Or did the new Ticketmaster policy of only 8% of venue tickets to fan clubs put a stop to the new plan? A: We plan on it still happening. Q: Hey, just a real quick question that I was hoping you could answer... I'm pretty sure Pearl Jam has released previous albums on minidisc format... is there any chance they will release any future or previous albums of theirs in DVD-Audio format? A: Sony has not released any music on DVD-Audio yet. If the format succeeds, they may release music on DVD-Audio, but there are no plans for that right now. Sony has released music on SACD (Super Audio CD) format, although there are no Pearl Jam cds available on SACD at this time. Q: I heard on MTV news of Brazil that the American MTV invited Pearl Jam to do another show of "MTV Unplugged" but they turned it down. Is that true? A: True. Q: Does Pearl Jam still have my Portuguese flag with them as I saw in the Monkey Wrench Radio photos from 1998? A: Yes, the Portuguese flag is still hanging in the warehouse. Q: If Pearl Jam come to New Zealand and Australia (and Hawaii), will they do the bootleg recordings for us too? I would just love to have the CD of Live in Auckland...especially since the 1998 Pearl Jam live in Auckland never surfaced. A: Sure. Q: How does Pearl Jam go about choosing opening bands? A: They choose bands they like. Q: I've heard about how Pearl Jam does what they can to cut costs for concerts, to make it less expensive for the fans...what sort of things do they do to make their concerts $20 less than say a band like Tool? A: Lot less production = less people to pay = less union costs = less expensive for the fans! **The Ten Club: Please send your questions about fan club issues to the Ten Club only at info@tenclub.net.
