We welcome you to the PEARL JAM RUMOR PIT Issue #52 - Sept. 15, 2002 Hey Jammers! This newsletter was created as a direct link to the fans. If you would like to ask a question about Pearl Jam, the Vitalogy Health Club asks that you please direct your questions (not fan club issues) to OfTheSea@aol.com or DigitalKat@aol.com. We're off now...into the Pit! FEED ME SEYMOUR... With all the updates over the past few months we've been seeing outbreaks of NPJAA (New Pearl Jam Album Anxiety) reach a feverish pitch. We'll try to ease some of your symptoms but remember the cure will only come once we have the new album in our hot little hands. Tip: If you're a fan on new album blackout until its release, you won't want to read further. MUSIC IN THE EAR... Pearl Jam's new album "Riot Act," produced by Adam Kasper and Pearl Jam and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, is scheduled for release on November 12. The first single, "I Am Mine" with the non-album b-side track, "Down," is scheduled to hit radio airwaves on Sept. 18 and be in-store on October 8. The album and single will also be released on vinyl. Specific international release dates for "Riot Act" and the single are not available at this time but they're expected to be close to the U.S. release dates. Upon release of the new album, there will be an online area available where you'll be able to connect to listen to music and experience exclusive content on the band, including photos, videos, etc. Some upcoming contests will also be part of the fun! We're also very happy to say that we can again look forward to a Pearl Jam Bootleg CD series from the upcoming tour legs! As it was last time, they'll be offered first on tenclub.net at special price to Ten Club members. It's not sure yet if there will also be a DVD of the tour. BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE... If you love album art like we do, you can view the artwork for the "I Am Mine" single on Synergy and the Ten Club website. Contributors to the artwork include, Jeff Ament, Brad Klausen and blacksmith Kelly Gilliam. You'll be seeing their contributions to the "Riot Act" art soon. Plans are still being made for next year's tour but no dates are available because it's still being worked out. Possibilities so far include Australia, New Zealand, Europe and maybe Japan. We can tell you that they will not be playing at the Electric Factory in Philly or Madison Square Garden in NY in October, as rumored by radio stations, but it looks like Pearl Jam will be performing two days on the Late Show with David Letterman in mid-November! THE "V" WORD... Pearl Jam, with Boom on keyboards, recently had some fun shooting footage at the Chop Suey Club in Seattle. It's not definite what will come of the footage but it's not a video in the traditional sense. The band has always filmed all concerts and rehearsals. No stranger to the band, esteemed photographer Danny Clinch was there to shoot the photo session for the new album. MORE FUN... For those of us who cannot wait for "I Am Mine" to hit the airwaves on Sept. 18, there's a First Listen on AOL that began on Friday the 13th! We're feelin' lucky now. To hear it, you can go to Keyword: First Listen on AOL; links to the song are also on the Welcome Screen, Netscape, AIM, etc. Even if you are not on AOL you'll still be able to hear the stream from Netscape at http://channels.netscape.com/ns/music/ch/songs_first.jsp REMINDERS... ~Pearl Jam's rarities album is scheduled for release on Epic next year. ~ Stone Gossard is again playing on Brad's third album, "Welcome To Discovery Park," which was released on August 13.
