We welcome you to the PEARL JAM RUMOR PIT Issue #55 - July 27, 2003 Hey Jammers! This newsletter was created as a direct link to the fans. If you would like to ask a question about Pearl Jam, please direct your questions (not fan club issues) to DigitalKat@aol.com or OfTheSea@aol.com. We're off now...into the Pit! AIN'T NO CURE FOR THE END OF TOUR BLUES... No more road-tripping to shows or waiting up past bedtime for setlists and show details. Now it's time to get back to our everyday lives. Sing along now -- waaahhh the #$&*@#% tour's over! Did that feel better? It didn't help us either. Here's some news on Pearl Jam comings and goings that we hope will alleviate some of the end of tour blues. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL... You'll still have a chance this year to see Pearl Jam at the annual Bridge School Benefit. The dates have yet to be set and ticket sale info will be released as the date comes closer. The Bridge School is an organization dedicated to ensuring that children with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of assistive technology and the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative educational strategies. Check out http://www.bridgeschool.org/ and http://hyperrust.org/ for additional info. Look for Mike's side band, The Rockfords, to perform at Bumbershoot, The Seattle Arts Festival on Friday, August 29, Labor Day weekend. The Festival runs Aug. 29-Sept. 1 at the Seattle Center. See http://www.bumbershoot.com/ for more. Contrary to rampant rumors online, Pearl Jam will not be playing in France in September. Hopefully, they'll be touring Europe some time next year but nothing is firm at the moment. BOOTLEGS... All 2003 tour bootlegs are still available at http://www.pearljambootlegs.com. The deadline for ordering individual CD sets for the second leg of the North American tour is August 20th. After that it'll only be possible to purchase each tour leg as a set. We're happy to announce that the promised bootlegs being released to retail stores on September 16th are the July 8-9 Madison Square Garden shows and the July 11 show at Mansfield, MA (Boston 3). In stores now are the Feb. 23rd show from Perth, Australia, the March 3rd show from Tokyo, Japan, along with the May 3rd show from State College, PA. I SEE CAMERAS... Pearl Jam have always videotaped every show and sometimes this footage makes it to the processing plant and a DVD is born. A DVD by the name of March 1st Yokohama, Japan is still incubating but there's no word yet on its due date or the possiblity of extra features. The previously released Showbox DVD will be available on http://www.tenclub.net/ only until we run out. PJ RARITIES ALBUM UPDATE... Yes, like all good Pearl Jam projects, this too is still incubating. The as yet unnamed double CD has a tentative release time of -- hopefully around Christmas now. There's no tracklist yet and it's been in the works for a while but we're sure it's going to be worth the wait. SPEAKING OF ALBUMS... ~Wellwater Conspiracy (Matt Cameron, John McBain) will release their self-titled, fourth studio album on September 9th on Transdreamer/Megaforce Records. ~Steve Turner of Mudhoney has released his solo debut, "Searching for Melody" on Roslyn Recordings featuring Dan Peters (Mudhoney) on drums, Johnny Sangster on guitar/keyboards and Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam) on bass. Oh, some dude under the name Wes C. Addle is credited for photography. :) ~Mike McCready has contributed a song to a benefit album coming soon. Stay tuned for further details. AND FINALLY... Will the 2003 tour posters be available for sale at tenclub.net? A: Yes, in limited quantities. Q: Why has Arc been left off the bootlegs? A: Don't want it on there. Q: Is there any chance for a release of a Pearl Jam Concert on DVD from 1992/93 or 94? Maybe like the Showbox DVD (which is a great thing) only selling on Ten Club. A: Sure... there is a chance. The lady on the TV broadcasting the Mexico shows said that the band was releasing the Mexico shows on DVD soon. Is this true? A: No plans. Q: I noticed that in all of Bam Margera's films (CKY's, Haggard) that at the top of the Special Thanks credit section he thanks Eddie Vedder. I was wondering if anyone noticed this too, and if they knew the story behind it? A: Good observation. :) Q: Is Brad doing a new album? A: They're planning on it. Q: Do you know how Stone makes an acoustic guitar sound with an electric guitar? For example, when he plays Daughter, it sounds as if he was playing an acoustic guitar but he plays a Fender electric guitar. A: He uses a special bridge pickup....a Fishman bridge pickup. Q: Please tell us something we have no idea or question about... A: If you look at the stars without a telescope, the naked eye can see 5,000. If you were to look through a telescope, you would see 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 -- more than all the sand on all the beaches in the world.....and also.....Boom's keyboard was once owned by Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals.
