We welcome you to the PEARL JAM RUMOR PIT Issue #47 - July 26, 2001 This newsletter was created as a direct link to the fans. If you would like to ask a question about Pearl Jam, the Vitalogy Health Club asks that you please direct your questions (not fan club issues) to DigitalKat@aol.com or OfTheSea@aol.com. We're off now...into the Pit! THE WAITING DROVE US MAD! PEARL JAM: TOURING BAND 2000 DVD/VHS It seems like it's taking as long to get the DVD out there to everyone as it took for the tour to happen. We wish we could hand deliver it to all who have been writing. You should know that everyone appreciates your patience. It's finally arrived in Australia and was scheduled for release on July 23rd in the UK and New Zealand. The release date for Japan is currently October 11th. We're told by the people at Sony that the reason for the recent delay was because territories were having manufacturing difficulties producing the special jewel case. MORE DVD FACTOIDS We've been receiving a few repeat questions so if you missed the Rumor Pit last time, the instrumentals on the DVD are as follows; "Thunderclap" is in "the Cities" section, "Foldback" and "Harmony" are #1 and #2 in "the Band" section. Here are some new factoids on the bonus sections of the DVD. "In My Tree" from the Matt Cam section is from the second Boston show. The song "Smile" in the Bonus Features is from Jones Beach 3 and "Yellow Ledbetter" in the Euro Montage/The Fans is from the Hamburg show. SOME PJ FACTS Pearl Jam aren't touring right now but they are busy doing things that make us jam. Stone's solo project, Bayleaf, is completed and scheduled for release on September 11. It features Ty Willman of Green Apple Quick Step, singer/songwriter and producer of the project, Pete Droge, Matt Chamberlain who formerly drummed for Pearl Jam, pianist Ron Weinstein, drummer Mike Stone, and bassist Guy Davis. The Riffmeister himself sings lead vocals on seven of the songs with Ty on lead vocals on the other three. The first single, "Unhand Me," with Ty on vocals, will be available for download from the Ten Club website in August. There's a possibility that other songs may be made available but nothing is definite at the moment. Stone is also busy working on a new album with his other side project Brad. No album release date is currently available. See also http://www.stonegossard.com/. Eddie is planning to appear at a Ralph Nader rally at the Rose Garden in Portland on August 4. He's also appearing in "Last Party 2000," a Donovan Leitch/Philip Seymour Hoffman political documentary. It features clips from his appearances at the 2000 Nader rallies, and although he did an interview segment for the movie, it may not make it to the final cut. Fingers crossed. No movie release date is available at this time. Jeff and Doug Pinnick of King's X have been talking about doing a project together. No details on it yet though. Matt Cameron will be touring with his band Wellwater Conspiracy in mid August. They will do the West Coast and Vegas. MISINFORMATION Contrary to previous reports by various entities, Pearl Jam's rarities album will not be released on October 30th. Also, Pearl Jam will not be appearing at this year's Farm Aid and Eddie will not be at this year's Tibetan Freedom Concert. In addition, the band is not breaking up, the earth is not flat, and yes -- size does matter. After all, who wants to watch the DVD on a 2 inch screen? FUDGE! Speaking of misinformation, we apologize for previously reporting that "The Kids are Alright" contribution to The Who tribute album was from a Pearl Jam soundcheck. There was a fudge up. Originally one of the versions sent was a soundcheck of the song but it turns out a live version made the final cut instead and no one knew until the album was out. REMINDERS AND SUCH ~Pearl Jam are appearing at this year's Bridge School Benefit in the fall. The honor of announcing the show details will go to the Bridge School and Neil Young. Tickets won't be available through the Ten Club as it is a Neil Young show. Please see bridgeschool.org for more on this wonderful organization. ~ Check your local PBS stations for the preview of Touring Band 2000. Some stations have already aired the preview. ~ Be sure to check out the extended version of the Spin magazine Pearl Jam article online (www.spin.com) featuring many new interview segments not included in the original August article. There's also a cool contest you can enter. ~ DirectTV's satellite television service will be showing a pay per view broadcast of The Who's all-star charity concert on viewer channel 101 during the month of August. The broadcast will first be shown to subscribers on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 9:00 p.m. ET. Last November 27th, The Who and many special guests performed at the Royal Albert Hall in benefit of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Eddie performed "I'm One," "Getting In Tune" and "Let's See Action" and participated in the finale of "My Generation" and "See Me Feel Me" with The Who, Bryan Adams and teenagers representing the Teenage Cancer Trust.
